Everlife BETA Update

It was an exciting BETA round the first week! Here’s what was wrong and what we fixed:

  1. Plants & Animals : One of the BETA testers identified a breeding bug in the last round of plants. I think we've gotten it fixed, so I readded the plants to the BETA box to give to the testers, but this time I put 2 copies inside just in case they have reached level 5 and want to experiment with 'breeding' plant or animal offspring. I did all the testing on my husbands account, but hopefully they won’t have any issues there either.

  2. The was a permissions issues with the meals; I forgot to make a script and a fork the right permissions for passing things around. It was an easy, but tedious fix because I have to manually update every single meal that a player can make.

  3. I’ve been experimenting with a ‘Daily Update’ post that reports in to people in the Discord server. It tells some general specs about the game (like whats being cooked and doubloons that are popular), and it also features a random region to encourage players to go somewhere new. I made some tweaks to the structure, so I’m excited to see how it does next week.

  4. Two additional 'how to videos' have been added on how to play the game, specifically on switching Modes and how to use PING. I’m almost done with a few more, but I need to grab more game play footage for it to be really right.

  5. The Everlife website is pretty much done: https://www.everlifesl.com/

  6. 'Go live' is set for 10/1

I snagged a few pics that some of the BETA testers took; these are some of my Bay City homies so it’s particularly special. :)

This week I want to watch how cooking and farming/breeding goes. If everything is good, I’ll start preparing to put the items on the Second Life marketplace.

I want to finish off my videos - I think having them out and public will be a good way to drum up some marketing before the big marketing push at the end of the month.

I also want to finish off my ‘Bay City’ adventure as well, so that the BETA testers will have something else to test. I have a few final decisions I need to make about how I want to structure the clue writing, but once I nail that down, it should be pretty easy to make the adjustments and update everything so that the Adventures flow the way I want without the player having to have 20 years of SL mainland knowledge. :)

I’ll report in next week with how I did! :)
